Ogliarola of Vùlture

It is the most widespread cultivar in Vùlture, as well as the most important and distinctive variety, which defines and frames the regulations of the 'DOP Vùlture'. It is a medium-vigor oil cultivar with good productivity. Its oil is characterized by an excellent oleic acid content and outstanding levels of total phenols, especially when harvested at the very beginning of ripening, as done by 'Le Querce di Annibale'. With a medium fruity profile of a mature type, it tends to have a naturally sweet taste, with a hint of mild bitterness and a lingering spiciness.

AGLIANICO DEL VÙLTURE

Aglianico del Vulture is a red wine from Basilicata, made from grapes of the famous Aglianico vine. This grape variety is cultivated on the slopes of Monte Vulture, an ancient, now-extinct volcano. It is widely regarded as one of the finest Italian red wines, earning the nickname 'Barolo of the South.' Aglianico is considered the most important red grape variety in Southern Italy and has a very ancient history. Scholars believe it was introduced by the Greeks between the 7th and 6th centuries BC. It was also celebrated in the writings of Quintus Horatius Flaccus, one of the most important Roman historians and poets, for its ability to produce a red wine with an intense flavor. Today, Aglianico vines are cultivated in hilly areas at altitudes between 200 and 700 meters above sea level, particularly in Basilicata, in the Vulture volcanic zone. The soil here is rich in minerals and potassium, a crucial element for the healthy growth of vines. The presence of several natural water springs makes this part of Basilicata an ideal region for grape cultivation. One of its standout results is Aglianico del Vulture wine, which received Denomination of Controlled Origin (DOC) recognition in 1971. Aglianico del Vulture DOC is produced using 100% Aglianico grapes. In the glass, it showcases a vibrant ruby red color with garnet reflections. Its aromatic bouquet is rich and harmonious, gaining structure as it ages. On the palate, it has a warm, savory, and velvety taste.

MOSCATO

Moscato represents a large family of grape varieties, as well as a wide range of wines. It is found in many Italian regions, from north to south, and is widely cultivated in southern Italy, where it produces exceptional wines. This grape variety prefers calcareous, marl, or tuffaceous soils. It thrives on hills at altitudes of 200-300 meters and can grow at even higher elevations in southern regions. Under optimal conditions, it produces beautiful golden-yellow, almost translucent grape clusters that are highly sugary, aromatic, and ripen relatively early. The wines derived from Moscato can vary in type—sweet, sparkling, or dry—each with a unique and unmistakable aroma, just like our Sagunto.
